Coach Osborne Coming To Petersburg Carnival Days

A special focus on the TeamMates organization, with a talk by TeamMates founder Dr. Tom Osborne, will highlight the final night of Carnival Days at Petersburg on Thursday, June 26.
Carnival Days is sponsored by the Petersburg Community Club and will be held Tuesday through Thursday, June 24-26.
Thursday evening events begin with a barbecue from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Petersburg Fire Station. Petersburg native Paul Koch will be on hand to sign his new book about Nebraska football, No Place Like Nebraska: Anatomy of an Era.
A flag-raising ceremony will be held at 7 p.m., followed by a performance by the Boone Central High School Drum Line. Koch will share some of his insights about Cornhusker football. Local TeamMates mentors and board members will be recognized, and Osborne will then speak about the TeamMates organization.
Both a live auction and silent auction are planned that evening, with winners announced at 8 p.m. All proceeds will go to the TeamMates Mentoring Program.
Carnival Days will open with kids’ races on Tuesday, June 24, at 7:30 p.m.
On Wednesday evening, a “See and Discover” program, Touch-A-Truck, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. A monster truck, combine and fire engine will be among the vehicles on display. Wednesday evening will also feature water fights for all ages-teams of six, and a middle school street dance.
D. C. Lynch Carnival will provide the midway all three days.
