Clarence Beckman
1935 – 2019
Clarence Beckman, formerly of Elgin, Nebraska, passed away on January 14, 2019, at the Skyridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. after being in failing health for several weeks.
Clarence was born on October 19, 1935, at the farm home of Henry H. and Mary (Starman) Beckman, southeast of Elgin.
He was baptized in St. Bonaventure Church, Raeville, Nebraska and graduated from St. John Berchman grade school there.
His early years were spent helping with the farm work until volunteering for the Army in January, 1956.  During his service, Clarence graduated from Motor Mechanics School at Fort Chaffee, Arkansas and received a G.E.D. diploma from the Elgin Public Schools, based on completion of testing in the armed forces.  He was discharged from the Army Reserve in 1962.
Clarence’s various occupations included many years in construction and over-the-road truck driving.  In retirement, in 2001 he purchased a home at Meadowood Village in Littleton, Colorado where he lived until his death.  He loved his very private life, but was a man known and loved by the other seniors in the retirement village.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, by four sisters; Dorothy (Reith), Rose (Reicks), Martha (Zadina) and Mildred (Fritz), and by three brothers, Alfred, Edward and Walter.
He is survived by three sisters; Sr. M. Bernardine, O.S.B., Delores (Olson), and Alice (Powell), one brother, Melvin, and two sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Beckman and Mary Ann Beckman.
Burial was in the military cemetery at Ft. Logan, Colorado.
A memorial service is planned at the retirement village in Littleton.  Another, to be held in Nebraska, will be announced later.
