City, Rural Fire Board One Step Closer on New Fire Storage Building

The Elgin City Council took another step forward towards constructing a new fire storage building to be shared with the Elgin Rural Fire Board.

Meeting Tuesday night, July 5, council members voted to pursue plans for a wood structure with steel roof and siding to be located where the present building is.

Final plans for the building will be presented to the council when they meet August 1. If approved then, they will be put out for bids. It’s highly likely work on the demolition of the old building and construction of the new one could begin sometime in September.
