The City of Elgin will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2011-2012 budget tonight (Sept. 6).
The public hearing will be held on Sept. 6, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at city hall.
According to City Clerk Vicki Miller the proposed property tax request to operate the city for the coming twelve months is $132,000.
To generate the necessary tax dollars, the proposed tax levy would be 0.399609.
One year ago, the property tax request was $128,000 with a tax levy of 0.438910.
