City May Pursue NHHS Loan For New Water Well

As winter storm “Kayla” began to stir outside, the Elgin City Council was inside City Hall tending to business inside City Hall.
All were present for the regular monthly meeting. Mayor Mike Schmitt updated council members on continuing developments in regards to a new city water well. He said he had been in contact with City Engineer John Zwingman who indicated that the City will be eligible for loans through Nebraska Health & Human Services (NHHS) at just over the prime lending rate. Zwingman, he said, recommended the City of Elgin take advantage of this option.
Beginning this week, the city has begun to advertise for bids for the water well project (see Page Seven). Bids will be opened on March 3 so that the council can consider and possibly take action on the bids at their March meeting to be held Monday night, March 7.
