Just like everyone else, members of the Elgin City Council Monday night were looking ahead to warmer temperatures.
Mayor William Evans and three of the four Council members (Shirley Nissen was absent from the meeting) took up the challenging task of hiring summer help.
During the course of the meeting, the Council approved the following hirings:
Pool staff — Sue Vanis was hired to serve as a co-manager along with Becki Schindler. In addition to being a co-manager, Schindler will also work as a full-time lifeguard.
Four other girls were hired on as lifeguards for the pool. They are Michelle Bauer, Jamie Bode, Jessica Heithoff and Connor Kinney. According to City Clerk Vicki Miller, both Bauer and Bode were substitute lifeguards one year ago.
