City Council approves maintenance for water tower

The Elgin City Council met Monday night, July 1. Among the items they approved were maintenance on the city water tower. No later than October, Elgin’s water tower will be painted inside and out and necessary maintenance will be done at a cost of just under $110,000 to be paid off over the next two budget years. Jack Duggar of MaGuire Iron told the council water towers like the one here needed to be painted every 10-15 years. Also, as part of the maintenance plan, he said, the water tower will be brought up to code. “The 50,000 gallon elevated tower structure is in fine condition,” he said.
