City Approves Land Purchase For New Water Well

The search for a new site for a water well for the City of Elgin appears to be over.
At the October meeting of the Elgin City Council, held Oct. 5, the council approved the purchase of property from JSMM Farms, LLC at a cost of $25,250, to be the site for a new water well.
Earlier this year, a test well was drilled at the location and water samples showed the location to be a good source for water for the community. The search for a new well, initiated more than a year ago, was necessary due to arsenic levels in excess of acceptable levels.
The new water well will be drilled in the coming months.
