Carole McDonald, age 67, passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 A.M., Thursday, July 17th at Zion Lutheran Church in Hampton.  Rev. Loren Cooper will officiate.  No Visitation.
Private Family Inurnment will be in the Stromsburg Cemetery.  Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be emailed to the family through the mortuary website at www.higbymortuary.com.

Carole Louise McDonald, the daughter of Arthur and Anna May (Jenkins) Doremus, was born at Stromsburg, Nebraska on January 30, 1947 and passed away at Aurora, Nebraska on July 14, 2014 at the age of 67.
She grew up on a farm in rural Polk and graduated from Polk High School in 1965.
Carole was united in marriage to Robert C. McDonald on September 24, 1965.  After their marriage they moved around to many places until settling down in Aurora.
She worked at various restaurants as a cook.  As a cook at the Hamilton Manor she grew close to residents and staff and eventually resided there when her health failed.
Carole had a love of cross stitching. She collected cookbooks and Winnie the Pooh.  She loved the Huskers and especially enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Diane Bohne. Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Janna (Steven) Schrunk of Elgin; Troy (Jennifer) McDonald of Aurora and Michelle Wengler of Nebraska City; eight grandchildren, Nicholas and Meghan Schrunk, Abby and Brad McDonald, Austin, Ian, Cyrus and Kia Wengler and sisters, Delores (Gary) Aringdale and Jolene Lingwall.
