Car Show, Wing Ding on Tap for Sunday

Sunday, June 9, promises to be an entertaining day in downtown Elgin.
The Elgin Community Club will be sponsoring two events which are sure to provide entertainment for persons of all ages.
Duane Esau, president of the club, said there will be a car show featuring some of the finest vintage motor vehicles from yesterday and today. The cars will be parked up and down Second Street for persons to view and admire. Dashboard plaques will be handed out to the first 25 entries at the car show. The car show is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Beginning at 4 p.m., there will be a ‘Wing Ding’ festival featuring several “teams” serving their finest chicken wing recipes. Spicy beans, chips & beverages will also be on sale. A portion of Pine Street south of the Bank of Elgin will be cordoned off where people can enjoy wings and listen to music courtesy of DJ Wayne Ives.
Wings will be served throughout the evening. Also beginning at 4 p.m., there will be a fenced-off beer garden where people can enjoy their favorite beverage. Money raised from these events will go to club activities associated with the upcoming Q125 celebration in June 2014.
