Burwell Defeats EPPJ In 4-Game Thriller

ELGIN — Playing their last home game of the season, Elgin Public-Pope John lost in 4 games to Burwell.
After dropping the first game 25 to 23, the Wolfpack evened the match by winning the second game in rousing fashion, 25 to 20. However, the Longhorns came back to win the final two games 25-20 and 25-13 to claim the match.
Playing in St. Boniface gymnasium, the Wolfpack gave their fans plenty to shout about in the way going.
In the first game, EPPJ led through much of the way going, jumping out to a 17 to 11 lead behind two ace serves from Baylee Wemhoff and kills from Taylor Schumacher and Corin Pelster.
As good teams do, Burwell did not give up on the game, rallying to tie the score at 18-all.
