Bode Earns Title of Champion Bull Rider for Great Plains Region

Jake Bode, a student at South Dakota State University and member of the SDSU Rodeo Team recently won the year end title and was awarded the saddle for Champion Bull rider for the Great Plains Region for the 2010-2011 rodeo season.

The Great Plains Region consists of colleges from a six state area including North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

During the fall and spring seasons, team members participate in 10 rodeos earning points throughout the season.

Jake placed at the following rodeos to earn points toward his title; University of Wisconsin at River Falls – first, North Dakota State University – first, South Dakota State University Rodeo 1 – second, South Dakota State University Rodeo 2 – third, University of NE-Lincoln – first and Dickinson State University – first. Jake finished the season with 755 points, edging out teammate Andrew Coughlin by a mere 13 points.

The son of Ken and Barb Bode of Elgin, Jake also participated in Team Roping, finishing tenth, along with finishing fifth in the All- Around for the Great Plains Region.
