Bauer, Henkenius Help West Win

HASTINGS — Elgin’s Tad Henkenius scored the West’ first touchdown then watched as Ewing’s Brett Kaczor took over the game, leading the team to a 32 to 22 victory Saturday in the Sertoma 8-Man Classic.

Kaczor set a record with 132 yards rushing and passed for 166 yards — just 2 yards shy of another record — to lead the West to a 32-22 win at Hastings College.

Henkenius scored the West’s first touchdown on a two-yard run. It was his only carry of the game. He also scored two two-point conversions in the game.

Andrew Bauer was a favorite target of Kaczor in the game as he caught three passes for 35 yards. He also had three carries for six yards. Bauer ran in one two-point conversion.

Kaczor ran for touchdowns of 4 and 15 yards in the second quarter to give the West a 24-8 halftime lead. His final score came on a scramble on third-and-3 play with no timeouts left and 10 seconds remaining in the half.
