For South Dakota State University Ag systems technology major Steven Bartak, an internship with the AGCO Corporation in Hesston Kan., was a career-inspiring experience.
“It was such an incredible opportunity and one that was absolutely amazing,” said Bartak, the son of Gary and Mary Bartak of Elgin, Neb. “What I saw and experienced was beyond anything I could have expected,” he said.
In his internship, coordinated through the SDSU Department of Agricultural Biosystems Engineering, Bartak spent the majority of his time at the AGCO facility in Kansas where he worked in their combine research and development department. Bartak also spent a four-week stint at the Hales Companies near Hermiston, Ore., where he learned about AGCO’s new proto-type combines.
