Barbara M. Day, 80 a long-time resident of Bartlett, NE passed away Saturday, July 1, 2017 at the Pine View Good Samaritan Center in Valentine, NE.
Funeral Services were held Friday, July 7, 2017 at the High School Gym in Bartlett, NE with Rev. John Ryding officiating. Burial followed at the Bartlett Cemetery, Bartlett. Barbara “Bobbi” May Day, the daughter of Henry and Cora May (Clark) Sturek was born on September 9, 1936 in Chambers, NE. She attended grade school at the Red Top School rural Bartlett, and graduated from Bartlett High School in 1953. Barbara went on the get her teaching certificate at Chadron State College, Chadron, NE and came back to the Bartlett area and taught school.
On June 27, 1959 Barbara was united in marriage to Lester “Stumpy” Day at Burwell, NE. They lived in the Wheeler County area through their married life. Barbara cooking and helping for many different places and organizations.
She enjoyed her time helping the school in Bartlett, the Hungry Horse in Ericson, Bibs and Boots at Bartlett, and the Ericson Livestock Market. She was also a caretaker of everyone; she enjoyed helping with 4-H, the fair, the cemetery association and mowing the cemetery, as well as baking and decorating cakes. Barbara loved her flowers and garden.
Barbara is survived by her three children: Louis (Pam) Day of Crookston, NE; Larry (Kaye) Day of Bartlett, NE; Lonna Kovarik of Garrison, MN; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters Patty and Sandy; along with other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law Kathy Day; son-in-law Tim Kovarik, and infant brother and sister who were twins.
