Auralia C. Meis, 91 of Elgin, NE, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013 at her son’s home in Elgin.
A Mass of Christian burial was held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Ross Burkhalter, Rev. John Broheimer, and Rev. Bernie Starman officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Auralia Catherine Kleffner, daughter of Ben and Emma (Heithoff) Kleffner, was born December 25, 1921 on a farm east of Elgin, NE.
She attended District #110 for two years and then St. Boniface School. She worked at the Agler Grocery Store and also at the Elgin Post Office part-time.
On February 12, 1945, Auralia was united in marriage to Arthur Theodore Meis at St. Boniface Church in Elgin. They made their home on a farm southeast of Elgin and lived there for 58 years.
To this union, three children were born: Marvin, Arlene and Jerry. In 2003, Art and Auralia moved into a house in town that his grandfather, Meinolph Meis, had built.
Auralia was a member of St. Boniface Altar Society and a life-long member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
She was a charter member of the St. Boniface Quilters and the Domestic Arts Club. She was a leader for the Elgin Busy Bees 4-H Club, a member of the Elgin Red Hatters, Antelope Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and spent many hours volunteering at the hospital. She was known for her skills in gardening, cooking, growing flowers, and sewing. She loved spending time with family, entertaining friends and was a great supporter of the Catholic schools and their activities.
She is survived by her three children: Marvin Meis and wife Jodine of Elgin; Arlene Gabelman and husband Roger of Neligh; Jerry Meis and wife Jane of Omaha; five grandchildren: Ben (Anna) Meis; Bart (Toni) Meis; Candi (Dave) Kirkwood; Eric (Brenda) Meis; Monica (Kevin) McMahon; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Laura Osgood of Napa Valley, CA; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Auralia was preceded in death by her husband Art on December 30, 2011 and her parents.
