August 15 to be First Day of Classes at EPS

Workers are busy completing summer projects and teachers are preparing for the arrival of students to start the new school year at Elgin Public Schools.
A new superintendent will lead the school when they open the doors for the first day of school on Wednesday, Aug. 15. Dan Polk has been on the job since July, taking over for Steve Dennis. Principal Adam Patrick will assume additional duties this year, serving as principal for all grades.
School will start at 8:15 a.m. on the first day and dismiss at 1 p.m. for all students in grades K-12. For preschool students, the first day and all subsequent days will run from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
The regular schedule will begin on Thursday, Aug. 16. School hours will be 8:15 a.m. to 3:43 p.m. for grades 7-12, and 8:15 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. for grade school students.
