A&R Construction wins bid for Beech Street Paving Project

The Elgin City Council didn’t have to look far Monday night for a contractor to do the Beech Street Paving Project.
The council watched as Mayor Mike Schmitt opened two bids for the project. The low bid was submitted by A&R Construction out of Plainview for a total of $293,463.82.
The other bid, for just over $301,000 was submitted by Elkhorn Paving of Norfolk. After a short time of deliberation, the council accepted A&R’s bid.
Work is expected to begin on the project July 1 and be completed by September 1.
On another matter, four bids were opened for armor coating of Elgin streets this summer.
Submitting the low bid was Sta-Bilt Construction out of Harlan, Iowa. Their bid was $22,750.
Other bids were submitted by H&L Asphalt out of Geneva, and from The Road Guy as well as Topkote out of Yankton, S.D.
Sta-Bilt was awarded the project. The Iowa company did armor coating in Elgin last summer
