Activity Picking Up on Wind Farm

Work has begun in earnest on development of the Prairie Breeze Wind Farm being built south of Elgin.
White Blattner Energy pickups can be seen coming and going in Elgin day after day. Supplies continue to be delivered to locations southwest of Elgin. Blattner Energy, based out of Avon, Minn., is the general contractor for the wind farm.
Crews are working to develop the site which will form the 118 wind turbines which will dot the southern sky line.
According to Alissa Krinsky, communications director with Invenergy, owner of the wind farm, “We’re excited to work with the community as we finalize the facility’s siting and design,” she said. “Construction is underway and going well, with a goal to commence operations early in 2014.”
Interviews are currently being conducted for the permanent full-time operations and maintenance jobs.
