Wolfpack Boys Ready To Win More Games — Basketball Preview

ELGIN — A good nucleus of players with experience should bode well for the fortunes of the Wolfpack boys varsity basketball season.
Coach Scott Becker returns eight players who saw extensive action on the court last season.
“The team is looking forward to the upcoming season,” Coach Becker said last week. “Practice has been upbeat with a lot of guys stepping forward as leaders.”
Last year’s leading scorer, Jake Eischeid has graduated, but much of the rest of the Wolfpack’s firepower returns. Swingman Jack Borer returns. Last season he averaged 9.4 points per game and led the Wolfpack in made three-pointers with 44.
Back for his senior campaign is post player Kyle Heithoff. Heithoff was a force inside where he averaged 7.4 points per game.
Regan Kerkman, Austin Meis and Kyle Kallhoff all played big minutes for the Wolfpack as did Chad Bode. Kerkman averaged 6.4 points per game, connecting on better than 50 percent of his field goal attempts from two and three-point range.
Meis led the Wolfpack in rebounds last season with 20. Bode finished third on the team in rebounds with 63 while Kallhoff was fourth on the team in steals last year.
