Senior Night Special For Wolfpack Volleyball Team

ELGIN — On ‘Senior Night’, the Wolfpack defeated Niobrara/Verdigre 25-19, 25-11 and 25-18.
Seniors Hayley Stamp, Taylor Schumacher and Sharla Schindler made their final regular season home game one to remember Thursday night, sweeping the Lady Cougars in three games.
Niobrara/Verdigre kept the score close in two of the three games, but on this night the Wolfpack were destined for another mark in the win column. The victory boosted the Wolfpack’s record to 22-3.
After winning the first two games, the Wolfpack started out strong in Game Three as an ace tip by Stamp helped stake the team to a five to zero lead. Kills by Liz Selting helped grow the lead to 10 to 3. After the Cougars put together a small run to cut the margin to five points, a kill by Taylor Schumacher ignited a five to two run to make the score 16 to 6. During the scoring spurt, Jenna Parks had a kill at the net and Jordan Mescher contributed an ace serve.
A kill by reserve Paige Meis and an ace tip from Nikki Beckman made the score 23 to 11. The Cougars then put together a seven to one run of their own to cut the score to 24 to 18. However, on the match point, the Cougars’ serve went into the net.
For the match, Parks led hitters with seven kills, Selting had six followed by Stamp with four, Schumacher had three, Terri Seier, Nikki Beckman and Meis each had two.
The Wolfpack had 11 ace serves in the match, led by Parks with five, Mescher had three, Selting added two and Schumacher had one.
Terri Seier, Stamp and Selting each had one solo block.
Schumacher and Mescher tied for the team-high in digs with 11 apiece.
Parks led in set assists with nine, Baylee Wemhoff had eight and Beckman added three.
Mescher led the team in serve receive with 12, Schindler had six.
