Wolfpack Sweep CWC, C/O At Triangular

CLEARWATER — What do you do when you see your 13-match winning streak snapped? You start a new one. That’s exactly what the Wolfpack volleyball team did Thursday night, defeating Clearwater/Orchard and Chambers/Wheeler Central in straight games. The victories boosted their record to 18-3.
Game One against the Cyclones saw the Wolfpack pull away midway through the first game. Ahead 14 to 10, EPPJ put together a seven-to-two run to take control of the game. Jenna Parks had two kills during the run while Hayley Stamp and Liz Selting each added one to go along with an ace serve from Jordan Mescher. Sharla Schindler then added three service points before an error by the O/C gave the game to EPPJ by the score of 25 to 15.
In Game Two, the score was tied at 8-all before the Wolfpack went on a 17 to 4 run to close out the game. The Cyclones were pounded with kills as Terri Seier, Parks, Stamp and Selting had their way at the net. Of the last four points of the game, Selting had three kills and Stamp had an ace tip to post a 25-12 victory.
Against the Cyclones, Selting led all hitters with 10 kills followed by Parks with seven, Stamp had six, Seier added four and Nikki Beckman contributed one. The Cyclones were led by Briana Stelling with six.
The Wolfpack had five ace serves in the match. Mescher led the way with two followed by Selting, Baylee Wemhoff and Sharla Schindler each with one.
Stamp, Seier and Taylor Schumacher each had one solo block. The Cyclones had 10 solo blocks in the match, led by Mallory Cooper with five.
Taylor Schumacher led the Wolfpack in digs with eight, Wemhoff had seven while Mescher and Parks each had five. Kinzley Macke led the Cyclones with nine. The Wolfpack had 25 set assists in the match compared to just 10 for the Cyclones. EPPJ was led by Parks and Wemhoff each with 12, Schumacher had one. Katie Funk had nine set assists for the Cyclones.
Mescher led the Wolfpack in serve receive with 10, Schindler had six.
CWC
The Wolfpack defeated Chambers/Wheeler Central. This time the scores were 25-19 and 25-18.
In Game One the Wolfpack led 16 to 14 before pulling away. Schumacher had an ace serve in the run and the duo of Stamp and Selting combined for an ace block to make the score 20 to 15. The teams traded points before kills by Schumacher and Selting set up game point. On game point, Seier recorded an ace block.
The Wolfpack trailed early on in Game Two as the Renegades took a 10 to eight lead. With Wemhoff at the service line, the Wolfpack scored the next five points to take a 14 to 11 lead.
CWC came back to take a 16 to 15 lead. That would be their last lead and the Wolfpack closed out the game by outscoring the Renegades 10 to three. Momentum in the game swung over to the Wolfpack’s side when Stamp made a miraculous bump which found an open space on the Renegades side of the net. From there, Schumacher had five service points in a row, Jenna Parks added an ace serve and Selting pounded away at the net.
Against CWC, Selting led the Wolfpack with six kills followed by Seier with five, Stamp had three while Schumacher, Beckman and Parks each had one. Nicole Beed led the Renegades with four kills.
The Wolfpack had three ace serves in the match, Mescher, Schumacher and Parks each had one. Seier had a big match at the net, recording four of the team’s five solo blocks, Stamp had one. D. Klabenes had four solo blocks for the Renegades.
Schumacher led EPPJ in digs with 10, Parks had eight. For CWC, T. Marcellus had 20 digs. An interesting statistic in the match, the Wolfpack had 27 digs as a team while CWC had 93, according to MaxPreps. Parks led the Wolfpack with seven set assists, Wemhoff had four and Beckman added two. Marissa Koenig recorded seven for the Renegades. Schindler led EPPJ in serve receive with six, Mescher, Selting and Parks each had four.
