Bernadine L. Erickson, 90, formerly of Elgin, NE passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at Brookestone Acres in Columbus, NE.
Memorial services were held Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the United Methodist Church in Elgin, NE with Rev. Michael Davis officiating. Inurnment followed at West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin, NE. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com.

Bernadine Leona Anderson Erickson was born on November 1, 1923 to John Anderson and Hattie E. Adamson Anderson. She is the last living member of this Anderson family in Nebraska.
Berna-dine attended country school and was a graduate of the class of 1940 from Elgin Public High School where she along with her husband Dallmont was selected as outstanding Elgin High School Alumni in 2009. Bernadine is also a 1968 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Bernadine taught elementary school for over 35 years in rural Antelope county schools, Columbus, Elgin, and Neligh.
On June 18, 1949, Bernadine married Dallmont John Connell Erickson. They resided on a farm west of Elgin before moving to Norfolk, and eventually Meridian Gardens in Columbus, Ne.
Bernadine loved her purebred Angus cattle. She was instrumental in organizing the first Nebraska Junior Angus Association, served on the advisory board for many years and was active in the Angus Women’s organization holding offices on the State and National levels.
Bernadine was a charter member of the Elgin 12 Extension club for 68 years and a longtime member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Bernadine was a member of the Elgin United Methodist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday school, Bible school, and was a faithful member of the Women’s organization, where she served most recently as the membership chairperson. She was also a 4-H leader and supporter of youth.
In retirement years, Bernadine along with her husband Dallmont, was an active member of the Norfolk Antique Car Club for many years. This group traveled throughout the country on various tours which Bernadine enjoyed. She and Dallmont also traveled with friends on various tours, one of her favorite trips being to native Sweden.
Many have received greeting cards from Bernadine throughout the years. It was her mission to recognize everyone’s special day, or to let recipients know someone was thinking of them.
Bernadine is survived by her daughter Korene Ann Erickson Fehringer, (Jim), five step-grandchildren and spouses, ten step great-grandchildren, distant cousins and family, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dallmont, her only brother Denzel J. Anderson, sister-in-law Florence Anderson, and two special uncles Maulding W. Adamson, and Harry C. Adamson.
