Wildcats Hold Off Wolfpack Late Charge

ELGIN — Turnovers led to two touchdowns for the Wildcats Friday night as Hartington/Newcastle edged the Wolfpack 36 to 30.
Mistakes and missed opportunities again cost the Wolfpack as they dropped their third game of the season.
“It’s turnovers,” Coach Randy Eisenhauer said about the loss. “What we’ve practiced the last two weeks is being physical and I felt the kids were really physical tonight…we just had too many mistakes and missed opportunities.”
Coming off a bye week, the Wolfpack’s power running game was on display early in the game. On their opening possession the Wolfpack picked up two first downs as fullback Kyle Kallhoff was churning up the yards inside behind good offensive line play. However, when the Wolfpack went to the air it was another story. Avery Chrastil picked off EPPJ’s first pass and returned it 42 yards for a touchdown, giving the Wildcats an early lead without their offense having taken a snap.
