Special Meeting Minutes
September 15, 2014
The Elgin City Council met for a special meeting on Monday, September 15, 2014 at the Elgin City Hall.   The purpose of said meeting was to hold the 2nd reading of Ordinance 637.  Notice of said meeting had been posted at three places, namely, U.S. Post Office, Dean’s Market and the Elgin City Hall, as prescribed by law.
Mayor Schmitt called the meeting to order at 9:05 a.m. and announced the location of the Open Meeting Act.
Council members present were Shirley Nissen, Don Mackel and Kenny Jochum.
Jim Kittelson was absent.
Also present was City Clerk Vicki S. Miller.
Council member Don Mackel read Ordinance 637, entitled: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF ELGIN, NEBRASKA, ANNEXING CONTIGUOUS LANDS AND STREETS TO THE CITY OF ELGIN, NEBRASKA, TO REPEAL ALL SECTIONS IN CONFLICT HEREWITH, AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE, and moved for its passage.  A second to the motion was made by Jochum.  Roll call vote; Ayes, Nissen, Mackel and Jochum, Nays, none and Kittelson absent.  There being three ayes, no nays and one absent, Mayor Schmitt declared Ordinance 637 passed and adopted.
A motion was made by Mackel to approve the Sterling Heights 2nd Division plat.  A second to the motion was made by Nissen.    Roll call vote:  Ayes, Nissen, Mackel and Jochum, Nays, none and Kittelson absent.  There being three ayes, no nays and one absent, Mayor Schmitt declared the motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the Elgin City Council, Mayor Schmitt declared the meeting adjourned.   Meeting ended at 9:25 a.m.
