The community of Petersburg has something to celebrate. It’s almost like a holiday that it seems to come every year about this time.
Petersburg was recently presented the Deanie Anderson Oustanding Community Environmental Award during the annual awards banquet of Keep Nebraska Beautiful. The banquet was held Thursday, Aug. 28, in Lincoln.
The award was presented to the Village of Petersburg for an entry which was sponsored by the Petersburg Community Improvement Committee. In addition, the Village of Petersburg also was recognized with the Award of Excellence in the Great American Clean Up competition.
According to Bernie Cunningham, the coveted plaques are now on display at the Village of Petersburg office.
For their efforts, Petersburg won a gas trimmer for the detailed 27-page description of cleanup efforts conducted during the spring and summer of 2014. The trimmer will be donated to the Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department.
