Donna Mae Armstrong passed away peacefully on August 2, 2014, in the company of Family, Friends, and Loved Ones.
She is survived by her husband, Lou, of 68 yrs.; three sons: Dana, Terry, and Patrick; and grandchildren: Shawn, Rebecca, Mike, and Charlie; and great grandchildren: Macon, Max, Abbey, Molly, and Ashley. She has been preceded by her parents: Warren and Mary; and her sisters: Gladys, Ruth, Nadine, and Esther.
She was an active member of Oak Meadows United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas. She was born June 28, 1927, and raised on the Riggs’ Family Dairy Farm in Elgin, Nebraska, where she delivered daily milk door-to-door, to the community, with her sisters. She married Lou E. Armstrong, after his return from U.S. Naval Service in World War ll.
They farmed, and raised their family, til Lou joined Braniff Airways in 1954 and they moved to Norfolk, NE.
Lou worked for Braniff for 35 years, and Northwest Air for 10 years. With Braniff; they lived and worked in Omaha, Chattanooga, San Antonio, and Seattle. They traveled to Mexico, South America, Canada, Europe, Alaska and Hawaii. They called San Antonio “Home”. She worked for Handy Andy and Foodway Grocery, Braniff, President of own ArmWel Construction Company and Artistic Luggage. Holidays, special occasions, and family get-togethers were always her cherished times, as she hosted and cooked her recipes for family and friends. She was warm, giving, and generous with her life. She will be missed by a great many. A Memorial Service was held at Oak Meadows United Methodist in San Antonio on Aug. 16, 2014.
