Becklun, Hensley Compete Mission Trip To Honduras

Just eight days formed a lifetime of memories for two young adults from Elgin who recently went to aid the suffering in Honduras.
Corrine Becklun and Clayton Hensley returned home July 5 from an eight-day mission trip to Honduras. It was there they came face to face with poverty on a scale likely not to be found anywhere in the U.S.
The duo was part of a Nebraska team consisting of eight persons who traveled to Central America through World Gospel Outreach (WGO). The organization’s vision statement is “Impacting the faith of Christ followers through serving and evangelizing children and the poor.”
Participants are driven to pursue this vision because of three fundamental Biblical mandates. They are:
• To care for the poor, especially the widows and orphans (James 1:27)
• To be fishers of men and to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the lost (Matthew 4:19)
• To be accountable before God for how we meet the needs of others (Matthew 25:31-46)
Miss Becklun is currently employed at Henderson Health Care Services. She said Saturday she first became interested in going to Honduras approximately one year ago when a nurse friend from Utica suggested she could make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate there.
