Grand Parade Winners Announced

More than 130 entries made the Elgin’s Q125 Grand Parade one to remember. For approximately 90 minutes, people lining both sides of the street in a winding parade route watched floats, vintage tractors and automobiles, a marching band and even a candidate for U.S. Senate (Dave Domina) march through town.
Parade entries were judged in five different categories. Winners were:
Youth — First place, Elgin Public FFA; Second place, St. Boniface and Pope John Schools; Third place, Dohmen Lawn Service
Faith — First place, Elgin United Methodist Church; Second place, St. Bonaventure Catholic Church (Raeville); Third place, St. Boniface Catholic Church (replica)
Family — First place, The Miller’s horse drawn wagon; Second place, Zegers Family; Third place, Schmitt Family
Farm — First place, Elgin Livestock & Baum Brothers; Second place, Hoefer Family; Third place, Thiele Dairy
Business — First place, Steel Steed Steakhouse & Saloon; Second place, Bank of Elgin; Third place, Park Center Daycare
