Scholarship Fund Drive Surpasses $1,000

Donations continue to be accepted for the 2014 Elgin Scholarship Drive sponsored by the Elgin Area Community Foundation. During the past week, more than $1,000 was received which, in turn, will be awarded to students from Elgin and Pope John schools next month.
Donations raised before April 30 will be eligible for matching funds. The match is given by the Colonel Barney Oldfield and Vada Kinman Trust. Altogether more than 90 students have received scholarships over the past 11 years.
Donations were recently received from Thomas & Marilyn Reilly, Leonard & Ann Beckman, Terry & Michele Reicks, Kevin & Lisa Schumacher, Ed & Anne Parks, Sharon Wilkinson, Elgin Livestock Sales, Inc., Gene & Mary Jane Boes, Mardelle Blair, Elgin Pharmacy, Duane & Vicki Miller, Calvin & Pam Heithoff, Jim & Chris Redding, Mary Helen Schrage, and Kyle & Deb Warren.
The fund now stands at $1,080.
