Elgin FFA, AMH To Sponsor Ag Health Fair Tuesday

Elgin FFA, along with Antelope Memorial hospital will sponsor an ‘Agricultural Health Fair’ in Elgin next week.
The event will be held Tuesday, March 18, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
The word ‘Free’ is synonomous with this event. How so?
• Free health screening available. The health screening will include blood pressure and glucose checks as well as assessments for BMI, hearing loss and home safety
• Free safety kits given away to the first 40 people through the door. Kits include safety glasses, earplugs and more
• Free snacks and water! Goodies will be provided by the Elgin FFA Chapter Officers
• Free door prizes provided by AMH
Central Valley Ag, a proud supporter of FFA will be giving a presentation at 3 p.m. on grain safety. Also, they will provide a demonstration using their grain bin rescue equipment. FFA Advisor Julia Schwartz, said the presentation should be something to come and listen to by any grain producer. According to information provided by AMH, the farm safety program will emphasize awareness and prevention of respiratory issues in the agricultural setting. This includes exposure to fertilizer chemicals as well as dust in grain bins and animal confinements (hog, cattle, etc.). Personal protective equipment as well as education will be provided.
