Wolfpack Wrestlers To Vye For State Medals

For Wolfpack wrestlers Andrew Fangman and Brett Kinney the season continues.
On Saturday, the twosome achieved one of their season goals by qualifying for the Nebraska State Wrestling Championships to be held this weekend at CenturyLink Arena in Omaha.
Competing at the D-2 District Wrestling Tournament held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 14-15, Kinney qualified for state by finishing fourth in the 138-pound weight class. Fangman earned his berth at state by finishing fourth in the 145-pound weight class.
This will be the second time at state for both wrestlers. Prior to qualifying for the state meet this year, Kinney went to the state meet as a sophomore in 2012.
This will mark back-to-back years for Fangman, a sophomore, reaching the state meet.
State Tourney Pairings
Kinney (25-13) will begin his quest for a medal at the state meet when he squares off against Garrett Toner of Perkins County. Toner won his weight class at the D-4 district and comes to state with a 37-8 record.
Fangman’s (31-13) first match at state will be against sophomore Jacob Klingelhoefer of Amherst. Klingelhoefer enters the state tournament with a 31-16 record, having finished first in his weight class at the D-3 district meet.
