Arlene J. Bergman, 84 of Elgin, passed away Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Funeral services were held Wednes-day, February 5, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church in Neligh, with Pastor David Kuhfal officiating. Burial followed at Park Cemetery, rural Elgin,

Arlene June (Stelling) Bergman, daughter of Henry and Isabella (Wegner) Stelling, was born November 28, 1929 at Ewing, NE. She graduated from Orchard Public School in 1947 and taught at schools in Orchard, Brunswick and Neligh areas for five years.
On October 28, 1951, Arlene married Bobbie Reuben Bergman at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church south of Orchard, NE. To this union, six children were born: Mavis, Reuben, Roger, Deanna, Jeanine and Byron. The couple made their home and raised their family on the Bergman farm, 9 miles northwest of Elgin, NE. Bobbie passed away on July 21, 1973 and Arlene continued with the farming operation with the help of her family. In July 1976, Arlene purchased and remodeled a home in Elgin and moved to town in 1977.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin, was a member of the Ladies Aid, and taught Sunday school for a number of years. Arlene enjoyed reading, cooking, restoring old furniture, gardening, growing flowers and sewing. She enjoyed being a licensed reflexologist, massage therapist, and studying homeopathic health.
She is survived by her six children: Mavis Bergman of Neligh,NE; Reuben (Roxanne) Bergman of Clearwater, NE; Roger (Nancy) Bergman of Orchard, NE; Deanna (Dean) Bly of Neligh, NE;  Jeanine (Kenny) Jochum of Elgin, NE; Byron (Lorie) Bergman of Elgin, NE;  15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; three sisters: Alys (Bill) Kruger of Clearwater, NE; Loretta (Gilbert) Foote of Orchard, NE; MaryElaine Wilkinson of Clearwater, NE; one brother: Richard (Darlene) Stelling of Orchard, NE; brother-in-law: Delmar Pfanstiel of McLean, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bobbie, granddaughter April Bergman; great-grandson Kaden Eaton; sister: Elda Pfanstiel; along with two brothers and two sisters in infancy.
