St. Bonaventure Catholic Church Re-Dedication Set For Sunday
January 31, 2014 by lmorgan
RAEVILLE — Sunday, February 2, will be a day of recognition and celebration for parishoners at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church.
Archbishop George J. Lucas will be in Raeville for the 8 a.m. Mass where he will re-dedicate the church. Indeed, parishoners have something to celebrate and be proud of, having completed a restoration project which cost nearly $65,000, yet incurring no debt for the church.
Church trustee Fred Fangman told The Elgin Review last week the restoration project began in May 2013 and was completed in November by McGill Painting out of Missouri Valley, Iowa, owned by Roger & Libby Reily.
During that time, work was done to bring back the original color of gray-beige to the church’s walls and improve the antique white and gold trim on the communion rail. That’s just for starters.
