Wolfpack Girls Defeat Elkhorn Valley

TILDEN — Points aplenty on offense and a stingy defense at the other end of the floor was a recipe for victory Tuesday night as Elgin Public-Pope John defeated the Elkhorn Valley Falcons 57 to 16 in girls basketball action.
The Wolfpack’s pressure defense forced the Falcons to commit costly turnovers in their backcourt which the Wolfpack quickly turned into points in the first quarter as they jumped out to a 16 to 6 lead. Jenna Parks got the scoring parade started just seconds after the opening tip-off and it didn’t stop. She and freshman Baylee Wemhoff each finished with 10 points in the game, many coming on easy baskets.
The outcome of the game was decided by halftime as the Wolfpack led 31 to 8. The only question was how big the final margin of victory would be.
