Mass of Christian Burial for Mildred A. Simmons, age 95 of Neligh, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2013, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Neligh. Reverend John Broheimer will be Celebrant, with burial in the Oakdale Cemetery in Oakdale, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden, Nebraska, and then resume from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Neligh, with a 7 p.m. Wake Service.
Mildred died Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.

Mildred A. (Goscha) Simmons, daughter of Nick and Francis (Zimmerman) Goscha, was born March 14, 1918 at Clearwater, Nebraska. Mildred attended school in Clearwater, after which she began her career as a teacher. Mildred taught 37 years, mainly in the Oakdale and Elgin area, during which time, she earned her teaching degree from Wayne State College.
On May 14, 1946, Mildred was married to John W. Simmons at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Clearwater.
The couple was blessed with three children: Sandra Ann, Mary Salestine, and Samuel John. Mildred and John made their home and raised their family on their farm in the Star Community until retiring into Neligh, Nebraska in June of 1999. After John’s death on November 12, 2000, Mildred continued to reside in Neligh, where she passed away at the age of 95 on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at the Golden Living Center.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Mary “Sally” (husband Verlyn) Louison of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son, Sam (wife Ann) Simmons of Oakdale, Nebraska; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lucy Allemang of Neligh, Nebraska, and Jean Goscha of Norfolk, Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John W. Simmons; and a daughter, Sandra Barnhart.
