Dallmont J. Erickson, 93, formerly of Elgin, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, NE.
A memorial service was held Friday, November 8, 2013 at the United Methodist Church in Elgin with Rev. Michael Davis officiating.
Inurnment followed at West Cedar Valley Cemetery in Elgin with military rites by American Legion Post #229 and VFW Post #5816 of Elgin. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com.

Dallmont was the only child born to Emil and Mary Josephine (Lee) Erickson.
Dallmont attended country school and was a graduate of the class of 1939 from Elgin Public High School where he was selected as outstanding Elgin High School Alumni in 2009. Dallmont was a Lieutenant with the Merchant Marines, a branch of the US Army during WWII. He received an honorable discharge in 1946 and was given an official discharge from the United States Army in 1992, after Congress passed legislation recognizing the service of the Merchant Marines.  He was a proud veteran and loved to share stories about his experiences during the war.
On June 18, 1949, Dallmont married Bernadine L. Anderson of Elgin. They resided on a farm west of Elgin which was homesteaded by Dallmont’s grandfather, John Erickson in 1885.
Dallmont was a farmer, cattle feeder, and rancher. He raised registered Angus cattle; was active in the Nebraska Angus Association, the National Angus Association, and was instrumental in organizing the first Nebraska Jr. Angus Association where he served as advisor for many years. He was a 4-H leader and FFA sponsor, as well as a promoter of youth in Agriculture.
He was a member of the Elgin United Methodist Church for many years where he held various leadership positions.
In his retirement years, Dallmont was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association and enjoyed flying his Cessna 140 aircraft.  He also enjoyed sailing, music of the 40s, buying and selling antique cars and participating in parades with his cars.  Dallmont and Bernadine traveled with friends, and were very active in the Antique Auto Car Club of Norfolk.
Dallmont is survived by his wife of 64 years, Bernadine L. Erickson and daughter Korene Ann Erickson Fehringer (Jim), five step-grandchildren and spouses, twelve step-great grandchildren, one second cousin, Anita Ott (Gary) and family, distant cousins and family, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
