Arlene M. Eischeid, 92 of Elgin, NE, passed away Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, November 7, 2013 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE, with Rev. Ross Burkhalter officiating. Interment followed in the parish cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.huffmanlevander.com..

Arlene Marie Eischeid, daughter of Jacob L. and Eleanor (Henkenius) Heil, was born October 21, 1921 at Elgin, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, attended St. Boniface School through the 10th grade and graduated from Elgin Public High School in 1940. After graduation, she was employed as a clerk at the Elgin Drug Store and a teller at the Bank of Elgin.
On September 20, 1948, Arlene married Edward M. Eischeid at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin. They began farming and in 1965 they purchased the family farm from Edward’s mother. Arlene was a housewife, raising their four children: James, Paul, Marian, and Rita. After the family was raised, Arlene worked part-time at the St. Boniface School lunch program. In 1998, the couple moved to town. Arlene moved to The Willows in Neligh in 2009 and in October 2011, entered the Golden Living Center in Neligh.
Arlene was a lifelong member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit #229 of Elgin, St. Boniface Quilters and St. Boniface Altar Society, where she was a past president and circle leader.
She is survived by two daughters: Marian (Doug) Wehr of Lexington, NE; Rita (Bob) Kocian of Seward, NE; two daughters-in-law: Karen Eischeid of Elgin; LuAnn Eischeid of Omaha, NE; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four sisters: Della Zeimens of Chadron, NE; Eleanor Starman of Neligh, NE; Mary (George) Shoemaker and Rita Wright, all of Denver, CO; brother-in-law: Jack Penne of Columbus, NE; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband Edward; two sons: James and Paul Eischeid; son-in-law: James F. Kozisek; sister: Monica Penne; brother: Paul (Joan) Heil; In-laws: Alma Eischeid, Henrietta (Herman) Ridder, Bob Wright, Ed Starman, Tom Zeimens, Leo (Josephine) Eischeid, and Joe (Angela) Eischeid, Jean (Ben) Koenig.
