Frances E. Luettel, 94 of Petersburg, NE, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion, NE.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg, NE with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment followed at the parish cemetery.

Frances Emma Luettel, daughter of Joseph A. and Anna (Salber) Wirges, was born October 6, 1918 southeast of Petersburg, NE.
She was baptized and confirmed at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Petersburg. She attended grade school at District 18, rural Petersburg, graduating from the 8th grade at St. John’s Catholic School.
On September 19, 1944, Frances was united in marriage to Clem Luettel at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Petersburg.
They lived west of Petersburg for six years until purchasing a farm east of Petersburg where they farmed and raised their three daughters: Ann, May and Rose.
Frances filled many roles well as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife.
On June 23, 2006, Clem passed away. Frances continued living on the farm until the time of her death.
Frances was a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Petersburg, NE and served as past president as well as holding many other offices of St. John’s Altar Society.
In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, gardening, flowers, playing cards and visiting.
Surviving are three daughters: Ann Bode & husband Bill of Lincoln; May Seier & husband Don, and Rose Bode & husband Bob, all of Petersburg; 10 grandchildren; Bruce (Ann) Bode, Kris Bode, Karrie (Erick) Mishler, Craig (Gini) Seier, Brenda (Wade) Eschenbrenner, Keith (Jana) Seier, Kim (J.J.) Stover, Brent (Tanya) Bode, Kelly (James) Kelley, B. J. Bode; 19 great-grandchildren: Cameron, Madeline, & Gabrielle Bode, Avery Mishler, Emily & Lauren Seier, Brooke & Matthew Eschenbrenner, Jaden & Blake Seier, Jadyn, Bailey & Emma Stover, Trev, Spencer & Reece Bode, Brennen & Hayden Kelley, and Austin Bode; brother: Bernard Wirges of Petersburg; sister: Leona Brown of Lincoln; sister-in-law: Mabel Wirges of North Platte; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clem, a granddaughter Tricia Seier in 1971, two brothers: John & Joe Wirges; and three sisters: Marcella Friese, Helen Hood, and Alvina Reuth.
