Getzfreds Chosen For 2013 Roncalli Award

Achievements were celebrated Sunday night at the 27th Annual Pope John Development Banquet held at Werner Hall in Petersburg.
The hall was packed with area supporters of the parochial school on a night when achievement was celebrated and funds were raised for the continuance of Catholic education offered at Pope John XXIII Central Catholic Junior and Senior High School.
The highlight of the evening, as has been the case in previous years, was the presentation of the annual Roncalli Award. The award recognizes an individual or family that has made a significant contribution to the long term advancement of Pope John XXIII Central Catholic Schools.
This year the recipients of the awards were two people instrumental in the day-to-day operation of the school — Betty and Jim Getzfred.
Mrs. Getzfred, who this year marked her 36th year at St. Boniface, and her husband Jim were recognized by emcee Duane Childers as being “great examples of what it is to be Catholics.”
“They’re a real team, partners in every sense,” he added.
