Reta Faye (Bienhoff) Norton, wife of Elgin native and Elgin Public School graduate Brad Norton, passed away on Wednesday, February 6 at the VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System in Omaha, NE. Norton, of Hastings, was 54 years old.
Memorial Services were held on Wednesday, February 13 at Butler Volland Chapel in Hastings with Bishop William Dendinger officiating. Burial with military rites by the Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard was at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Hastings.
An Air Force Medic who retired as a Technical Sergeant, Reta married Brad Norton in 1981 in Hastings, NE. A recipient of the Humanitarian Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal, Reta was also very active in the Hastings and State Elks Lodge, serving leadership roles.  She received Officer and Volunteer of the Year awards at the state level for 2011-12. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She is survived by her husband, Brad and sons Matthew and Michael (Delta) Norton all of Hastings; brothers Calvin and Lloyd of Texas; sister Valjean West of Pennsylvania; nieces, nephews and cousins.
