Wolfpack ‘Freeze’ Out Franklin 56 to 0

October 31, 2012 by lmorgan

ELGIN — The Franklin Flyers were defeated when they stepped off the bus Thursday afternoon to face Elgin Public-Pope John in the opening round of the Class D-1 State Football Playoffs.
Unaware that Elgin had received approximately two inches of wet snow in the early morning hours Thursday, the Flyers weren’t ready for the weather conditions and fell to the Wolfpack by the score of 56 to 0.
The Wolfpack managed to stay warm on the sidelines, thanks to a ‘hot’ offense which scored nearly every time they had the ball in the first half.
What remained of snow on the field after efforts were made to get the field ready for play, didn’t affect the Wolfpack on the opening drive of the game.It took the Wolfpack just six plays to go 44 yards to score the game’s first touchdown. Quarterback Ross Schindler had 25 yards rushing on the drive, including a 20-yard run. He got the touchdown on a one-yard plunge. However, on the drive, fullback Blake Anderson went down with an ankle injury and did not return. Filling his spot admirably was reserve Blake Schrage.
