President Laurie Waterbury called the Hearing for the Board Policy 606.06, Acceptable Use and Internet Safety Policy to order at 7:15 PM. Board members present were Ryan Reestman, Steve Heithoff, Stan Heithoff, and Laurie Waterbury. Bob Hoefer arrived at 7:21 p.m. and Kim Wells arrived at 7:27 p.m. The hearing was closed at 7:30 p.m. and President Waterbury called the regular October 2012 Meeting to order at that time. Board members present were Ryan Reestman, Steve Heithoff, Kim Wells, Laurie Waterbury, Stan Heithoff and Bob Hoefer. Also present were Superintendent Dan Polk, Principal Adam Patrick, Paula Jensen, Heidi Rethmeier, Jeane Johnson, Elaine Meyers, Dennis Morgan, Blake Anderson, Brett Kinney, Sharla Schindler, Kelsey Shoemaker, Lisa Dohmen, and Christian Dunn.
President Waterbury led the “Pledge of Allegiance.” Waterbury reminded everyone that a copy of the Nebraska Open Meetings Law was posted in the meeting room.
School board meeting notice complied with Meeting Notice Policy #204.07.
Steve Heithoff motioned and Stan Heithoff second to approve the Consent Agenda: #5- Minutes of Regular and Special Meeting, #6- Adopt the Agenda, #7- Financial Report, #8- Board Bills. Motion carried, vote 6-0.

President Waterbury recognized visitors and asked if the patrons had any comments.
There were no Correspondence or Standing Committee reports.
Principal Patrick invited students to give reports on Wonderful World of Water, FFA fall activities, and the poetry workshop they had attended. He gave an explanation of the NePAS system and MAP test results.
Activities Director report was submitted by Carlie Wells.
Special Recognition was given to school board members on their training achievement. Kim Wells completed level 2 and Ryan Reestman completed level 1 training.
In action items, the mission statement was discussed and tabled until a later date. No action taken.
Ryan Reestman motioned and Kim Wells second to purchase a water softener system for the kitchen part of the gym building at $1800. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
The internet and computer usage policy was reviewed and there were no changes made to the policy.
Steve Heithoff motioned and Reestman second to rebuild the water wheel and purchase an electric booster pump for watering the football field. Vote 6-0, motion carried.
Supt. Polk reported on the error on the budget. The money requested stays the same but the levy will be 2 cents lower at approximately 67 cents. He reported to the board that the multicultural report is no longer submitted to the state but kept in an ongoing file for review. The option enrollment report was reviewed and remained the same.
The date for the assembly celebrating the National Blue Ribbon School award has been set for November 28, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. District 41 State Senator Kate Sullivan, Governor Dave Heineman, and Commissioner of Education Dr. Roger Breed will be featured speakers. The public is invited to attend.
Forms for the superintendent evaluation were distributed.
Reestman motioned and Stan Heithoff second to enter closed session for protection of the public interest and needless injury to an individual for the purpose of discussing personnel and curriculum/testing in which individual student’s and teacher’s names may be used. President Waterbury restated the motion. All voted aye, motion carried. The board entered closed session at 8:42 p.m. The board returned to open session at 10:16 p.m. No action was taken.
The next regular board meeting will be on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at 7:30 PM at the EPS Distance Learning Room.
Motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Bob Hoefer and seconded by Reestman. All voted aye, motion carried and the meeting adjourned at 10:17.
