Donald A. Dozler, 82 of Albion, NE passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, March 16, 2012, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Albion, with Fr. Stan Schmit officiating. Interment will follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery in Albion with military rites conducted by American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736. Donald was born October 22, 1929 to Andrew and Clara (Mescher) Dozler west of Elgin, NE.  He attended rural schools and later graduated the 8th grade at St. John’s Catholic School in Petersburg, NE.  On December 4, 1951, Donald was drafted into the United States Army where he served at Panama during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged on November 13, 1953.
Donald was united in marriage to Ella Mae Penne on April 13, 1955 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Elgin, NE.
The couple made their home and worked the farm, eight miles west of Albion. In the fall of 1990 they moved into Albion, where he worked as a Park Supervisor for the City of Albion.  Ella Mae passed away September 13, 2010.
Donald was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church of Albion, Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #162 and VFW Post #736 of Albion. His many hobbies included fishing, collecting and restoring Massey Harris Tractors, making toys out of nuts and bolts, playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Donald is survived by 2 sons: David (Lisa) Dozler; Richard “Dick” (Roberta) Dozler all of Albion; 2 daughters: Connie Asche of Beaman, IA; Cyndee (David) Merrell of St. Edward, NE; 11 grandchildren; Rebecca Dozler, Sarah (Josh) Peter, Trista, Melissa, Macey, and Tye Dozler, Luke and Erin Asche, Allison, Blake, and Brandon Merrell; 4 great-grandchildren; Shashannah, Jayla, Eli, and Lexis; one brother: LeRoy (Mary Kay) Dozler of Albion; one sister: Joyce (David) Figgner of Albion; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ella Mae, parents: Andrew and Clara Dozler; father and mother-in-law: Richard and Marie Penne; son-in-law, Steve Asche, and a niece Kristine Dozler.
