George Michael Brooks was born on June 15, 1961, in Oakland and died a tragic and untimely death on Feb. 13, 2012, in Castro Valley. A loving and devoted father, husband, son, brother, uncle, mason, coach, neighbor and friend, George lived a full and extraordinary life. He was an amazing gift to all those who knew him, making everyone feel that he was their best friend with his wonderful smile and kind heart. He will be remembered above all for his devotion to his family.
Living in Concord for his first 31 years, George played baseball, basketball and football while attending Mt. Diablo High School. He also attended Diablo Valley College in Pleasant Hill. He married the love of his life, Lisa Coleman, July 25, 1987. He has been a Fairfield resident for the last 19 years. George was an outstanding journeyman mason for more than 25 years. His favorite times were those he spent with his three sons, coaching Little League, basketball, soccer, camping, running, dirt biking and just being together.
George is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; sons, Baron, Thomas, and Eric; parents, Norbert and Ruth Brooks; brother, Peter; sisters, Barbara (Damon Helmantoler) and Carmen (Wayne Chang); father and mother in-law, Eugene and Bernie Coleman of Elgin, NE; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Jeanene) Coleman, Daniel (Debra), David (Becki) Coleman; numerous nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles and cousins.
A visitation was held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Fairfield Funeral Home, 1750 Pennsylvania Ave., Fairfield. A memorial service was held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Calvary Chapel Solano, 1180 Western St., Fairfield, followed by burial at Rockville Cemetery, 4219 Suisun Valley Road, Fairfield. A reception was held after the burial services at the Calvary Chapel Solano in Fairfield.
