District #18 Meeting

By Dennis Morgan

On Wednesday night, the District #18 Board of Education took steps to deal with an immediate issue and made plans to address a potential long-range problem which other rural schools are now facing.

Following a closed session towards the end of the meeting, the board approved extending Interim Superintendent Lee Hall’s contract through the end of November. Hall was hired last summer to serve in that capacity while Superintendent Gayla Fredrickson was on medical leave. She has been on medical leave since last spring and no date has been set yet for her return.

Earlier in the meeting, Principal Corey Fisher told the board he will prepare some information regarding future enrollments and the options the school district will face.

Next meeting — The November regular meeting will be held Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 7:30 p.m.
