Gerhard C. Langhorst, 84, of Fremont, NE died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011 at the Fremont Area Medical Center at Fremont, NE.
He was born Aug. 29, 1927 at rural West Point, NE to Henry & Theresa(Kaup)Langhorst. He grew up on a farm in the Snyder and Howells, NE area. He was a graduate of Howells High School. Gerhard farmed in the Snyder and Howells area.
He retired in 1993 and moved to Schuyler, NE. He came to Fremont in 2009.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at Fremont and member of the Knights of Columbus.
Gerhard married Lavina Pieper on Nov. 15, 1949 at Tabor, NE. She survives.
Other survivors include sons, Jim & wife, Rita Langhorst of Jackson, NE, Gary & wife, Mary Langhorst of Fremont, Glenn & wife, Mary Langhorst of Wisner, NE and Kenny Langhorst & special friend, Dee of Omaha; daughter, Kathy Miller of Grand Island, NE; Brothers, Robert & wife, Myra Langhorst and Norbert & wife, Shirley Langhorst all of Howells, NE and Larry & wife, Pat Langhorst of Liberty, MO; sister, Marlene & husband, Bob Reiter of Valencia, CA; sister-in-law, Mary Langhorst of Bellevue, NE; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Dave Langhorst.
Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Fremont. Father David Belt officiated.
Rosary/Vigil Service was held Tuesday night, Oct. 4, at Moser Memorial Chapel, Fremont. Burial was Wednesday afternoon at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery at Howells, NE. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association.
