EKG Tailgate Celebration is Saturday

If you love tailgating and Husker football, then Elgin is the place to be Saturday, Sept. 24.

The Elgin Ko-ed Group (EKG) is hosting a tailgate party beginning Saturday afternoon and concluding late that night, hopefully after a Husker victory over the University of Wyoming. Activities will get underway at 2 p.m. at 100 Pine Street on the vacant lot west of City Hall (in case of bad weather the alternate location would be Beckman Lumber).

Organizer Jessie Reestman said there will be a number of younger kids’ games for them to enjoy including a ‘Bounce House.’ Roasted hog will be served up to all who are hungry, and also a beer garden for the thirsty. Persons wishing to watch the game will be able to do so on a 16’ big screen. She encouraged everyone to bring lawn chairs.

More than 300 tickets have been sold thus far. Tickets for the event are $10 per person (which includes a meal). Children five and under eat free. Tickets can be purchased at Dean’s Market and at the Bank of Elgin or can be purchased at the gate. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Elgin Q125 celebration slated for summer 2014.

See ya there and remember, WEAR RED!
