1943 – 2011

Edward Francis Sauser, 67, was born December 12, 1943 in Randolph. He was the son of Leonard and Thelma (Leiting) Sauser. He grew up near Belden and graduated from St. Frances Catholic School in Randolph in 1961. He joined the navy in 1963.

Ed was stationed in San Diego and Sasebo, Japan and was honorably discharged in 1967. He married Katherine Ann Schmit on August 22, 1969 in Randolph.

To this union was born seven children. He worked with his Dad farming in Belden and then advanced his farming opportunities by moving to Neligh in 1978.

While in Neligh he farmed and raised livestock.

Ed was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Francis Catholic Church, Angus Association, American Legion Post 172, and the Rural Fire Department. His family always came first as well as his Catholic faith. He enjoyed attending his kids’ activities and later on, his grandkids’ activities as well.

He died January 17, 2011 at home with his family. Survivors include his wife Kathy, sons Clinton (Teri) of Plainview, Todd (Minnie) of Bloomfield, Aaron (Tina) of Tilden, Eric (Rosemary) of Neligh, and daughters Carla (Dale) Pellatz of Urbandale, IA, and Connie (Matthew) Kersten of Norfolk. His mother Thelma of Randolph; 3 brothers, Vince (Sharon) of Neligh, Marvin (Sandy) of Indianola, IA, and Mike (Julie) of Plainview; 4 sisters, Ileen Beckman of Omaha, Kathy (Alan) DeTomaso and Donna Sauser all of Phoenix, AZ and Lynn (Randy) Scott of Dundee, OR. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; Taylor, Tayven, Schuyler and Trynity, Hali, Christian and Preston, Tyson and Jarrett, and Damien, Payton and Alexsis. He was preceded in death by his son Dan, his father, his brother Dennis and his sister Connie.

Funeral services for Edward Sauser, 67, of Neligh were held Friday, Jan. 21 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Neligh. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Neligh under the direction of Beyer Funeral Home in Neligh.
