Wolfpack Girls Win Again!

ELGIN — Friday night’s girls game between Stuart and the Wolfpack was a game of two halves. The Broncos won the first half and the Wolfpack prevailed in the second half to claim a 49 to 30 victory.

Trailing 21 to 18 to start the third quarter, the Wolfpack ramped up their defensive intensity at one end of the court, limiting Stuart to just four points. The intensity carried over to the other end of the court as the Wolfpack  suddenly found points easy to come by. Junior Carey Eischeid accounted for five points in the first two minutes on the second half to turn a three-point deficit into a 23 to 21 advantage. Samantha Sattler got Stuart even at 23-all. The Wolfpack answered with back-to-back baskets from Chelsi Mescher and an old-fashioned three-point play from Lauren Selting to take a 30 to 23 lead at the 2:27 mark.

After a Stuart basket, Jessica Heithoff nailed a trey and Mescher convered a steal into to two points to make the score 35 to 25 at the end of the quarter. In the quarter, the Wolfpack outscored their opponent 17 to four.
